Description
If you are familiar with Soulard, then you probably already know that Mardi Gras is kind of a big deal around here- and why wouldn’t it be!? We’re just up the river from New Orleans, and also located in Soulard, which is an old French slang word meaning, “drunkard” (Soulard also happens to be the last name of the family who settled in the area 200+ years ago). This imagery perfectly embodies the state of 2021’s Soulard Mardi Gras, or the Mardi Gras that never really happened. Artwork by local artist, Linda Kurdi.
